I'm sure I'm not the only one who's going to be crying rivers when Picnik closes it's doors and shuts down on April 19th. I have photo shop, and I figured I'd just have to learn how to use it. For quick edits, I'd use Picassa, possibly, or Pixlr? I had no idea. Life will not be the same- is what I thought! I was alerted of a new system that is nearly identical to picnic- and it's free! PicMonkey is so fast and easy to navigate- and most of the effects have identical features and names as picnik does. Here's a sample photo:
This is the original with no edits or crop.
Brightness -4, Shadows 18, Highlights 12, Clarity 23%, Cross Process Green 39%, Focal Zoom- Zoom Blur 1%, Focal Size 71%, Edge Hardness 12%.
To compare pictures, I did exactly the same effects on Picnik to the photo.
Look at that! They're identical!
I really see no difference, even next to each other. This is fabulous!
I love PicMonkey because it was created by ex-Picnikers, so it really is made of the same software. I love it more than Picnik because it's SO MUCH FASTER! It's lightning speed! My only complaint about the software is their premium effects are unclear. If you use a premium effect, a little monkey shows up in the corner of your photo (it's their logo), but luckily, their premium is free for now! I can't get enough of this awesome new program and I really can't wait to see them get all of the effects and more that picnik has!
I'd love to hear what you think of this new, ultra fast, little brother of Picnik!
